Creativity

Ok, I'm not traveling a lot, lately. that's maybe the reason why this blog is like an orphan. nobody feeds him. maybe I could explain why it is like that... I should probably find some gooood excuses.

well, here is one: I am working a lot. after months of job searching I decided to create my own working place. actually, it has created itself: it's the streets of Barcelona! sounds greasy? not at all. in 2006 Barcelona had about 6.700.000 tourists. in 2007 there were 400.000 more of them! so, my friend Maite and I decided to get right to the point and launch a company offering city tours. that's what we are working on since end of march. website is nearly ready, flyers are going to be printed this week and the tour is already inaugurated. so look out for Stay in Motion.
a looooot of work, I can tell you. we hope, it works out fine.

excuse number two: I have a lot of hobbies - most of them have their own pages and blogs, as you might know. I do restoration of furniture (EN: woodened, DE: verholzt) and a lot of photography (din_bcn at flickr).

but you get a bonus for waiting so long
: you like creativity? you like to get inspired? let me share some really cool webpages with you, so you get inspired and do your own art work or whatever!

1a) Escher and the Droste effect: this is a wonderful page where the Droste effect of Escher drawings is analyzed and recreated.

1b) if you like Escher, you should see these photos: Double Spiral this guy is doing amazing things with photos on a mathematical basis (www.flickr.com/photos/sbprzd/).

2a) have a look at the Packard Jennings projects: you may need some time to check all his projects out but it's worth it!
he says on his page:

"I make work that delves into the realm of activism, not only to connect with individuals in provocative and meaningful ways, but also to recast my role in the system. I often put my work out into the world for chance interactions with people; this involves ad hoc installations and subversive infiltration of public and semi-public spaces, where the pieces are left to their own fate. I employ humor as a device for lowering a viewer's guard to the reception of difficult content."
You can participate in downloading his bible stickers or some For Packard Jennings showfake newspaper headlines. my favorites are the "Anarchist Action Figure", "Business Reply Pamphlet" and "Billboard Alterations".

2b) check out the page of Steve Lambert, who also worked with Packard Jennings on the "Postcards from our awesome future"

3) do your own art: have a look at the Instructables page. here you can find a lot of nice inspirations like the IKEA hack Sun Jar.

4) heard about Spaceinvader? this mosaic stickers are hung around the world - Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, New York... on the webpage you find photos, maps (where you can find them) ... AI_096 AmsterInvaderSpaceinvader

5a) Julian Beever is an artist who does amazing 3D street art: Julian-33
5b) 3D street paintings are also done by Kurt Wenner. check out his gallery.

6a) if you had the luck to stay in our guest room, you might know that we love stencils. you can do cool stuff and to get an impression, here's the stencil revolution page. its tutorial part is down because of legal problems, I assume.

6b) one of my favorite stencil artist is C215. you can (could?) find some of his stecils on the streets of Vienna. he also collaborated with the Children at Risk Foundation spraying stencils in the favelas of Sao Paulo.

7) and last but not least, check out Monkeyman's photos
. . .

that's just about it.
there's a lot more cool stuff out there, I know. gonna continue another day, ok?
just keep in touch - until next week I intend to upload our new Stay in Motion-city tour-flyer and hope to open our stay.im homepage for public.
